- Motorcycle helmets need to be regularly maintained for safer and more hygienic riding. How should motorcycle helmets be maintained? Today, I will teach you 4 simple tricks to keep your helmet fresh and easy to use forever!
1. Appearance
After cycling back, motorcycle enthusiasts will find corpses of various insects attached to the surface of their helmets. After praying for them! Some motorcycle enthusiasts like to directly use their nails to pick, but this is actually not right. Due to the fact that the insect corpses have already dried and hardened, using brute force to pick them can easily cause scratches on the mirror and damage the paint on the surface of the helmet!
Correct method: Dip a cotton cloth in warm water and soak for half an hour first; Alternatively, wet wipes can also be used! After half an hour, wipe it again with a clean cotton cloth, and you will find that the insect corpses can be easily wiped off! After wiping, it is best to wax the helmet to protect the paint on the helmet surface; Make the helmet look brand new!
2. Lens
When cleaning the protective mirror, extra care should be taken as it is a transparent component. Add neutral detergent to water, wipe the inside and outside with a soft cotton cloth, rinse with clean water, and let it air dry naturally. Clear water has a certain lubricating effect, so the surface of the lens will not be scratched! Rubbing water wax or anti-static agent on its outer surface can reduce the adhesion of dust and oil stains. On the inside of the protective mirror, apply anti fog agent to reduce the generation of fog on the mirror surface when driving in cool weather or at night.
3. Helmet lining
After using the helmet for a period of time, due to sweating on the head and poor ventilation, oil stains may accumulate inside and produce a strange odor. The inner lining of motorcycle helmets is detachable and should be removed for cleaning after a period of time. When you remove the lining, you will find that various insect corpses and sand inside are actually sitting on your head every day, and the ventilation openings have already been blocked! If not cleaned for a long time, bacteria can still breed; It emits an unpleasant odor!
The correct approach is to use neutral cleaning agents. To prevent the cleaning agent from leaving off odors, its usage should be controlled. After cleaning, wipe off the moisture with a towel or tissue and let it air dry naturally in a well ventilated area. Do not use a hair dryer or other means of drying. When brushing the inside of the helmet, be careful not to apply too much force to avoid damaging the protective layer. Frequent helmet cleaning can cause deformation or damage to the cushioning material inside. It is recommended to use a headscarf when wearing the helmet to avoid unnecessary damage caused by repeated cleaning.
4. Lens buckle
It is normal to encounter windy weather during the motorcycle journey. After the sandstorm, you will find that when you lift or lower the helmet lens, it is not as smooth as before, accompanied by a clicking sound; I feel like there is a foreign object inside the buckle! The function of the buckle is to ensure the sealing between the lens and the helmet. If sand and stones are involved, it will not only wear out the lens, but also reduce the sealing, making it easy for the lens to fog up!
Correct practice: Regularly check the lens buckles, clean the sand between the buckles with a brush, and preferably add two drops of lubricating oil to keep the buckles smooth!
